Cupping
Cupping therapy is a traditional healing practice that involves placing cups on the skin to create suction. This suction is typically generated either by heating the cups or by using a mechanical pump. The cups are applied to specific points on the body and left in place for a few minutes. As the air inside the cup cools, it creates a vacuum that draws the skin and superficial muscle layer upward into the cup. This can result in reddening of the skin and a temporary discoloration or bruise-like mark.
Cupping is believed to promote blood flow, reduce inflammation, and stimulate healing. It has been used in various cultures for centuries, including in traditional Chinese medicine, Middle Eastern medicine, and other ancient healing systems. Cupping therapy is often used to alleviate muscle tension, improve circulation, and treat conditions such as back and neck pain, respiratory issues, and certain types of injuries.
